The Ottawa Senators announced on Thursday that the club has come to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with first-round pick Cody Ceci, whom the team chose with the No. 15 overall selection in last June's entry draft.

A native of Ottawa, Ceci was a member of the city’s Ontario Hockey League team, the Ottawa 67’s. Over his three years in the OHL, the 18-year-old defenseman accumulated 30 goals and 76 assists for 106 points in 196 career games.

Standing at 6’2, 206 pounds, Ceci is projected as a dynamic offensive defenseman, which will give the Senators a formidable back-end when paired with standout Erik Karlsson, who won the Norris Trophy for the NHL’s best defenseman in 2012.
