Washington Capitals executive Dick Patrick and Fort Wayne Komets broadcaster Bob Chase have been named as the recipients of the 2012 Lester Patrick Trophy, according to a press release from the NHL. The two men will be honored during the annual Hockey Hall of Fame induction celebration in Dallas on Oct. 15.

The Lester Patrick Trophy is awarded annually for outstanding service to hockey in the United States and honors the trophy’s namesake who spent 50 years in hockey as a player, coach and general manager, in addition to being a pivotal contributor to the game’s development.
Dick Patrick is the grandson of Lester and is the son of former Rangers player and coach, Muzz Patrick. After playing college hockey at Dartmouth and earning a law degree at American University, Patrick took over as Capitals president during the 1982-83 season and has remained with the team in that role since.
Chase will be entering his 60th season as the broadcaster of the Komets. Arriving at the radio station WOWO in 1953, Chase has held several different positions at the station during his tenure, acting as sports director as well as marketing and promotions director in addition to hosting a radio show and calling Komets’ games.
