Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov stated in a foreign language interview in mid-July that if the NHL experienced an extended lockout, he would return to Russia to play in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Now, with the collective bargaining agreement between the NHL and NHLPA set to expire in 10 days and the threat of a lockout on the horizon, the goaltender is not as certain of whether he will follow through with those plans.
In a story published by Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon, Bryzgalov explained that he will be waiting to make a decision.

“You know, it’s a tough decision,” Bryzgalov told CSN’s Lisa Hillary. “Like I said before, we’re not even thinking about possible possibilities, what can be, what’s possible. We’re going to wait, and then make the decision.
“Maybe we’ll return to Russia and find a school for the kids, I don’t know. Maybe we stay here. It’s a family decision. We’ve got to sit together and decide what we’re going to do.”
Despite the uncertainty, Bryzgalov also said that he is keeping his mind busy by trying to have fun. He has been skating and working out in preparation for the season.
“I’m not even thinking about it,” Bryzgalov said. “Just waiting and waiting [for] the decision on Sept. 15, and as soon as I hear the decision, I’ll start to make some moves.”
