The executive board of the NHLPA is beginning to organize another vote of its membership to file a disclaimer of interest.

This decision comes close to 12 hours after the NHLPA’s initial self-imposed deadline to file a disclaimer of interest passed at 11:59 p.m., ET on Jan. 2.
However, while multiple outlets are reporting that another vote is being organized, the time frame for when the vote will begin is unclear.
According to Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet, the players are being told to vote as early as Thursday, while Darren Dreger of TSN is reporting that the start of the vote and the deadline for filing a disclaimer has yet to be determined. Dreger is also reporting that the vote will occur sometime over the next 48 hours.
As of Thursday afternoon, the NHL and NHLPA are continuing negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement. It is believed that the NHLPA will only pursue a disclaimer of interest if these talks fall apart.
