Goalie fight: Ray Emery fights Braden Holtby during line brawl

So this is what rock bottom looks like for the Philadelphia Flyers.

It’s getting ugly in Philadelphia, and Friday’s game against the Washington Capitals has to be rock bottom because, well, there really isn’t anywhere else to go.

With the Flyers trailing 7-0 early in the third period -- and fans chanting for the removal of general manager Paul Holmgren -- a line brawl broke out that ended with goalies Ray Emery and Braden Holtby exchanging blows. Well, it was mostly Emery doing the punching.

That is Emery’s third fight at the NHL level, with the previous two coming during the 2006-07 season. So how did the penalty situation sort out after all of that? Have a look.

Incredible. And the Capitals official Twitter account wasn’t exactly amused by it all.

The truly incredible thing about this game -- the actual game, not the sideshow fight stuff -- was the fact Washington didn’t record a single shot on goal for the first 15 minutes of the game, and that the Capitals did this without Alex Ovechkin in the lineup.
