Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby allowed four goals to get by, and the Penguins shut out their Eastern Conference rivals, 4-0, in the night’s top game.
The bicycle kick save is the save of the night

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY SportsThis is what can only be described as a bicycle kick save. It’s pretty spectacular, and it’s the best save we’ve seen across the NHL on Wednesday.
That save kept the game scoreless until Columbus’ Nick Foligno beat Berra with a rocket of a shot just a few minutes later to give the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead.

He hasn’t scored a goal with a goalie in net in 15 games. Will that streak end on Wednesday?
In 12 road games this season the Devils have scored more than three goals just two times (they scored four both times, and in one of those games the fourth goal came by way of a shootout win). It’s probably no surprise then that they have only won three games away from the Prudential Center this season. Can they find some offense in Anaheim?

Getty ImagesWhen the NHL pushed realignment last year, it was the hope the new format would help foster and rekindle some of the league’s best rivalries.
The Capitals and Penguins certainly seem to be two of the teams the league had in mind, as the two meet as divisional rivals for the first time in 20 years Wednesday night at Verizon Center, which didn’t even exist the last time they shared space in a division.
