Corey Potter with an own goal for Edmonton

This isn’t the type of thing you need to do against the Chicago Blackhawks, Corey Potter. They score enough without you putting it in the net for them.

For the Edmonton Oilers to have a chance against the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night they were going to need to play their absolute best hockey and not do anything to help the defending Stanley Cup champions out.

For the first 30 minutes they did the exact opposite, and it reached a low point when Edmonton defenseman Corey Potter accidentally knocked the puck into his own net behind goaltender Devan Dubnyk.

Tough break, and just the type of break you don't need to be giving the Blackhawks. They're good enough without any extra help. The Blackhawks would add another goal just a few minutes later that resulted in a goaltending change with Ilya Bryzgalov making his Oilers debut.
