When George Parros and Ryan Reaves lined up across from each other late in the first period of Tuesday's game in Montreal, it was pretty much assumed that they were going to punch each other shortly after the puck dropped.
Did this George Parros fight cost Montreal a goal?
This could have been a costly fight for the Montreal Canadiens, as it appeared to take a goal off the board.

Fighting each other is probably the only reason the two players were even in the lineup. As expected, the two heavyweights dropped the gloves and started trading blows right off the face-off.
The problem for Montreal: It might have taken away a goal, as Douglas Murray's shot from the point right off the draw snuck in behind Blues goalie Jaroslav Halak. The puck was in, the light was on, but the goal (which would have tied the game) did not count as the referees stopped the play so the fighters could do their thing.
Whether or not the puck went in because Halak was distracted by the fight that was just about to start in front of him is up for debate, but he certainly didn’t react like a goalie that was giving up on the play. He even quickly turned around to find the puck as it squirted through.
Tough break for the Canadiens. Wonder if it was worth it?
