The last thing the Nashville Predators need this season is another important player going down with an injury. Unfortunately, rookie defenseman Seth Jones is the latest to join the wounded for the Preds, as he left the game on Saturday after taking a slap shot to the face.
Seth Jones injury: Predators rookie defenseman takes puck to face
Andrei Markov’s shot caught the talented rookie in a compromising position.

Jones was injured late in the first period when a shot from Montreal Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov deflected off a player into Jones' face.
Here’s a GIF of the play.
Jones remained on the ice in pain for a minute or two before being helped to the bench by teammates. He immediately headed straight to the locker room. The good news here is that he got up rather quickly, which might indicate his visor caught most of the blow. The NHL mandated all incoming rookies must wear visors this season, which might have saved Jones from serious injury.
UPDATE: Turns out the injury was serious enough to keep him out the rest of the game.
