Midway through the second period on Saturday, Maple Leafs defenseman Dion Phaneuf smoked a slap shot past Red Wings goalie Jonas Gustavsson to bring Toronto within a goal of tying the game.

Two minutes later, Phaneuf had a wide open net. Gustavsson wouldn’t let his old teammate beat him again.

Save of the year material.
