Rex Ryan likely to remain Jets coach, per report

The Jets may not make a move with the current coaching staff, despite several rumors to the contrary.

Despite a third straight season without a playoff berth, the Jets may keep Rex Ryan as their head coach, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. There are multiple unnamed sources that point toward Ryan staying in New York, but it is not a done deal, per Schefter.

Ryan started his head coaching career with the Jets in 2009. His first two seasons featured a combined regular-season record of 20-12, a postseason record of 4-2 and two appearances to the AFC Championship game. However, he has netted a record of 21-26 ever since and has not made the playoffs in three years. Along with his on-field struggles, there has been a change in the front office with former general manager Mike Tannenbaum being replaced by John Idzik Jr. after last season's 6-10 effort.

Ryan’s defense ranks 11th in the NFL, despite currently having a 7-8 record heading into Week 17.
