The Ottawa Senators (9-6-2) will host the New York Rangers (8-6-1) at Scotiabank Place on Thursday night.
Rangers vs. Senators preview: Ottawa looks to extend winning streak to 3 games
It will mark the first of three meetings between the two teams this season.
The Rangers and Senators last met during the first round of the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs. With the Rangers ranked as the top seed in the East and the Senators barely qualifying for the eighth seed, many believed Ottawa would have a short run at the Cup.
However, the Senators pushed the heavily-favored Rangers to the brink and forced a Game 7.
Entering Thursday night, the Senators will be playing the underdog role again, as they will be without Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson. Despite missing two of their best players, the team will carry a two-game winning streak into the contest and has held their opponents to one goal in each game over that span.
The Rangers will be coming into the affair off a 3-1 loss against the Montreal Canadiens. With star forward and team point leader Rick Nash out with an undisclosed injury, the team will need to find a way to generate offense.
Thursday night’s game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on MSG, SNET-E and TVA.
