Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall was suspended two games for his knee-on-knee hit against Minnesota Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck on Thursday night, according to an announcement by the Department of Player Safety on Friday night.

Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall was suspended two games for kneeing Cal Clutterbuck of the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night.
Hall has officially been suspended two games for “kneeing” and will forfeit $9,729.72 of his average annual salary. The amount was determined based upon the collective bargaining agreement and will be donated to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
The incident occurred during the end of Thursday night’s game when Hall cut across the middle and made contact with Clutterbuck’s knee. Hall was given a five-minute major for kneeing, as well as a game misconduct. Clutterbuck required the assistance of a stretcher to leave the playing surface.
Following the game, Hall explained that he did not believe the hit required supplemental discipline. Wild head coach Mike Yeo did not agree and questioned how people would have responded had the roles been reversed with Hall being hit by Clutterbuck.
