Despite what the Florida broadcasters in the video above say about it, the Mike Weaver hit did not look “clean” at all. It was a cross-check in the lower back, pushing Lucic’s face right into the boards. That’s not even CLOSE to acceptable.
Weaver didn’t get a penalty on the play, presumably because the officials on the ice didn’t see what he did, or possibly because they are idiots. Lucic got a two-minute penalty for roughing, two for cross-checking and a ten minute misconduct shortly after for being unacceptably angry.

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY SportsMartin Brodeur out with “soreness”

USA TODAY SportsThe Devils didn’t give out much information regarding Brodeur’s injury on Sunday, only saying he had “a little soreness, will be re-evaluated tomorrow.”
So far this season Brodeur has been posting decent, though not spectacular, stats. Through 13 games played he has a GAA of 2.27 and a save percentage of .911.
