Marian Hossa injury: Forward leaves game after hit from Ryan O’Byrne

Hossa didn’t join the team after the first period.

Ryan O'Byrne: Blackhawks killer.

The Avalanche defenseman who injured Patrick Sharp earlier this season has apparently done the same to Marian Hossa with a hit into the boards late in the first period on Monday night.

Hossa was seen shaking his head after the hit, and he didn’t come out with the team to start the second period. The Blackhawks haven’t provided any word on his status yet, but the Avalanche broadcast is speculating that it’s an arm or head injury.

We’ll update you with any news as soon as it becomes available, but losing both Patrick Sharp and Hossa for any amount of time would be horrible news for a Blackhawks squad that’s cooling off.
