Derek Dorsett injury: Columbus RW out for rest of season

A fractured clavicle in the first period of Thursday’s game will end Dorsett’s season.

In the first period of Thursday night's game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Vancouver Canucks, Blue Jackets right wing Derek Dorsett took a hard hit from Vancouver defenseman Andrew Alberts in the Canucks goalmouth. Dorsett immediately skated off the ice nursing his arm, and the team soon announced he wouldn't return due to an upper body injury.

After the game ended in a 2-1 victory for the Blue Jackets, the team announced the bad news: Dorsett fractured his clavicle on the play, and will miss the remainder of the season.

This injury will be a blow for Columbus, which is riding a three-game winning streak and looking to keep things going in the right direction. Dorsett has played in every game this season for Columbus, contributing nine points and earning 53 penalty minutes in his role as an enforcer for the team.
