Penguins vs. Senators: Chris Neil lays questionable hit on Simon Despres

Was Neil’s hit borderline enough to warrant league discipline?

Monday was supposed to be all about Matt Cooke, but instead Chris Neil has gone out of his way to steal the spotlight.

Neil's play has been as pesky as ever, but he might have crossed the line with this hit on Simon Despres in the second period. Despres was just carrying the puck around the net when Neil came out of nowhere.

Maybe it’s just me, but it sure looks like it was Neil’s forearm that connected with Despres’ head and not his elbow. Either way, it’s still targeting and initial point of contact that matter, and that might cost Neil a game or a fine down the road.

What do you think? Legal or dirty hit?
