2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs nightly GIF recap: Sharks force Game 7

The San Jose Sharks edged the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday to tie their series 3-3.

There was only one game in the NHL on Sunday night, but it was a huge one: Game 6 of the Battle of California between the Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks, with San Jose needing a win on home ice to avoid elimination and force a Game 7. The Sharks would get the win they needed after scoring two goals and then skillfully defending their 2-1 lead in the final period.

Let’s take a look at the highlights of the game, GIF-style.

The Sharks struck first when Joe Thornton took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play:

T.J. Galiardi also scored for the Sharks, cleanly beating Jonathan Quick with a wrist shot:

Dustin Brown's goal for the Kings showed why coaches always tell players to "just throw the puck at the net":

And as time wound down and the Kings were unable to tie the game, Jonathan Quick showed his annoyance and "just threw the puck at Logan Couture":

These two teams will meet in Los Angeles on Tuesday for Game 7.
