Canadiens vs. Senators Game 4: No love lost through one period

Montreal and Ottawa are scoreless after a quick first frame.

After an epic Game 3, you had to be wondering what was in store between the Canadiens and Senators in Game 4. Will it be as physical? Yes. Will the scoring be as frequent? So far, no.

The Habs and Sens are scoreless after one period in Ottawa, and neither side has really had a good scoring chance so far. Instead, as expected, the clubs have decided to trade checks with each other. However, it might start costing Montreal in the long run.

The Habs threw 18 checks, and while that physical presence is nice Brandon Prust was penalized for roughing and David Desharnais was sent off for hooking. That was the kind of thing that would've killed them in Game 3, but so far the Senators have failed to take advantage on the power play. At nine shots apiece, you have to expect the scoring intensity to ramp up here in the second period.
