Blackhawks vs. Kings Game 5 update: Los Angeles outgunned badly in the first period

Chicago leads 2-0 after one frame and it’s not really even that close.

The Blackhawks clearly want to finish this series in Game 5. They sent that message loud and clear in the first period, taking a 2-0 lead over Los Angeles with a barrage of offensive activity.

Things were going alright for the Kings until Duncan Keith's prayer was answered by Jonathan Quick's five-hole.

You can’t really blame Quick on that shot. That puck was just blessed by Lady Luck and slipped through the tiniest of cracks between those two goalie pads.

You can blame the Kings for this next goal. Some standing around and poor puck tracking led to a score by Patrick Kane.

Energized by the two tallies, the Blackhawks continued to pepper Quick and the Kings. Los Angeles could barely get the puck out of its own zone, and a lot of forays into the Chicago end of the ice ended rather quickly. After getting outshot 10-4 in the first, the Kings need to turn things around quickly (no pun intended) to save their season.
