Fans at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit pay tribute to Gordie Howe Fans responded to it with a standing ovation and chanted his name. They also held signs urging Howe to get well soon. Even Red Wings coach Mike Babcock couldn’t help but applaud.
The Red Wings themselves are doing their part to honor Howe as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead on the Kings in the first period. That’s just the way Gordie would like it.

Lupul sustained a separated shoulder injury that ended his season in 2011-12. He broke his forearm in Jan. 2013 and missed nearly two months of action. Less than a month after returning from that he sustained a concussion that put him out for 10 days. Last season he missed a total of 13 games after dealing with a bruised foot, strained groin and a knee injury that ended his season in April.
