Jake Gardiner, Jonathan Huberdeau take part in unlikely fight

These aren’t the players you would expect to drop the gloves and fight.

The Toronto Maple Leafs fight as much as any team in the league, so it's not really a surprise the gloves were dropped during their game in Florida on Tuesday night.

What is a surprise is that the fight involved Jake Gardiner and Jonathan Huberdeau.

According to the database at Hockeyfights.com this was the first NHL fight for both players. In Gardiner’s case it was apparently his first fight at any level of hockey. Huberdeau hadn’t dropped the gloves since his days in junior hockey, and even then they were few and far between.

Even crazier is that fight happened with Colton Orr and Troy Bodie on the ice for Toronto, the guys that are supposed to be on the roster so skilled guys like Gardiner don't have to fight.
