Max Pacioretty injury: Canadiens forward leaves game after collision

Pacioretty’s injury could force changes to Team USA’s lineup in Sochi.

The United States hockey team's gold medal hopes took a hit on Saturday when Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty suffered an injury after colliding with a net post.

The incident occurred in the first period when Pacioretty drove the net against the Carolina Hurricanes. As Pacioretty skated towards the net, Hurricanes defenseman Brett Bellemore checked him off his feet and into the net post.

Pacioretty remained on the ice for a few minutes before getting helped to the dressing room. There's no word on the extent of his injury, but the Bobby Ryan Watch is officially underway in case USA Hockey needs a replacement for Pacioretty in the upcoming Winter Olympics.
