The fall from grace for the Vancouver Canucks just got steeper, as winger Daniel Sedin is injured after getting hit into the boards by Ottawa Senators defenseman Marc Methot during the Heritage Classic on Sunday.

The Canucks can’t seem to catch a break.
The hit occurred at 14:20 of the second period. As Sedin chased after a puck behind the net, Methot shoved Sedin off his skates and into the boards. Sedin struggled to get up and hobbled off the ice favoring his left leg.
After getting treated on the bench, Sedin left for the locker room and didn’t reappear for the third period.
Vancouver coach John Tortorella told reporters after the game that there was “no chance” Sedin could’ve played in the third period, although he declined to specify how severe the injury was. Early speculation is that it is a left hamstring injury.
Sedin, like his brother and team captain Henrik, has struggled this season by his standards with just 13 goals and 40 points in 63 games played. With trade rumors swirling around the team, Sedin’s injury is the latest in what has been a week of bad news for Vancouver.
