Hurricanes rookie Noah Hanifin scores first NHL goal of his career

This year’s fifth overall pick finally has his first.

Noah Hanifin has officially joined the ranks of Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel. The Carolina Hurricanes rookie was taken No. 5 overall in this year's draft, and of the three top-five picks who stayed in the NHL he's the last to get the first goal of his career.

It's always a memorable moment when a rookie scores their first goal. Hanifin had to wait until his 15th game of the season, but the defenseman is on the board with this clean wrist shot from the left point. Anaheim Ducks goaltender Anton Khudobin's vision is unimpeded as Hanifin's rocket of a shot sails him by, then tying the game for the Canes 1-1 to start the second period.
