Nail Yakupov injured his leg after an accidental take down from a referee

Edmonton cannot catch a break with these injuries.

Edomonton has had the absolute worst luck with injuries this past month. First, it was Connor McDavid's collarbone, now it's Nail Yakupov's leg in what might be the freakiest injury of the season.

It's hard to see in the confusion, but a referee clearly collides with Yakupov and takes the young forward down. After the puck drop, the referee seems to get bumped off the face-off. In what looks to be an attempt to break his fall, the referee grabs onto the nearest object to steady himself, that being the jersey of Yakupov. The Oilers forward bends back awkwardly on the fall, specifically his right leg moves in a way no knee really should without injury.

Yakupov was helped off the ice and so far there has been no official word from the Oilers as to the extent of his injury.
