Alex Ovechkin gets speared in the groin by a Rangers defenseman

Apparently no level of Hall of Fame-worthy respect can protect you from getting speared in the NHL these days.

Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin is one of the best players to have ever played in the NHL, yet he found himself the target of another veteran's stick on Tuesday. Ovechkin laid a couple of legal hits on New York Rangers defenseman Marc Staal early, and then paid for it a few shifts later.

Yeah. That’s not okay. Ovechkin clearly didn’t think so either, as he immediately skated up to Staal and gave him some choice words before imploring the referees to call a penalty. No such thing occurred, so Ovechkin will now probably score three hat tricks to earn justice.
