If this puck wasn't spinning like a top, the Lightning would be leading the 3-2 Rangers instead of the other way around in the third period. In a stroke of bad luck, Tampa Bay could not buy a goal here after a shot beat Henrik Lundqvist, but was swatted away with a stick at the last possible second as it was just about to spin across the line completely.
Spinning puck flat out costs Lightning a goal
Tampa Bay was a hair’s breadth way from a goal.

Holy smokes that was close pic.twitter.com/F7Mxn47UCe
— Stephanie (@myregularface) December 31, 2015 Valtteri Filppula had the initial shot for the Lightning that got past Lundqvist, but it's clear that the stick of a Ranger defenseman pulls it out of there before it went all the way over the line. The play went to a review, but there was no conclusive evidence that the puck fully crossed the goal line, despite the fact that it was seemingly in the net.
