The Boston Bruins earned a much-needed three-point cushion in the thick of the Eastern Conference wild card race, but it was the way they got it that was so impressive.
David Pastrnak scores Bruins game-winning overtime goal off no-look pass
Soda to Pasta worked pretty well.

Carolina managed to push the Bruins to overtime on Saturday, where Boston winger Carl Soderberg made a great play to finish things off. Soderberg skated down the wing deep into the Hurricanes zone before whipping a no-look backhand pass to David Pastrnak in the slot. The Bruins rookie quickly deposited it past Cam Ward for the game-winning tally.
That was Pastrnak’s tenth goal and 24th point in 39 games, which is a pretty good stat line for a rookie. Boston’s overtime win did a lot of things to the Eastern Conference race. It eliminated both New Jersey and Philadelphia, and (most importantly for Boston) gave the Bruins a three-point lead in eighth place over Ottawa.
