New York Rangers fans were understandably upset on Tuesday when a violent cross-check by Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien went uncalled.

Somehow, it went unpenalized.


And when we say violent, we might be understating it. The incident occurred in the late stages of the second period in Winnipeg. New York fired a shot in that caused forward J.T. Miller to jump and fall down. For some reason, Byfuglien decided Miller was still a threat to score and cross-checked him in the back of the head.
The put-down just looked unnecessarily brutal. Here’s another look:
Miller was uninjured, but the real shocker here is that no penalty was called on the play. Byfuglien got away with one of the most violent cross-checks of the season.
