With NHL players more aware of acceptable hits these days, you rarely see gigantic collisions that are also perfectly legal. But Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin bucked the trend Saturday.

In the middle of a highly testy game between the Habs and Blues, St. Louis center Paul Stastny carried the puck with speed through the neutral zone. He was just about to chip it into the offensive zone when Emelin delivered the hit of the season.
