Lightning goalie provides reminder why goalies should never leave their nets

As a hockey goalie, leaving your net to play the puck is kind of like staying at a bar past 1 a.m. Nothing good will happen.

We know this, and yet goalies (and bar patrons) insist on not changing their ways. Tampa Bay Lightning netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy fell victim to this infamous mistake on Saturday against the Wild.

When Minnesota dumped the puck in during the first period and gave chase, Vasilevskiy decided to play the puck behind his own net. You can guess what happened.

That’s a heckuva shot from Coyle from a bad angle, but there’s one reason it went in: THE GOALIE LEFT THE NET. When will they learn?
