Flyers hand out shirts paying tribute to announcer’s plea during wristband incident

This is one way to own up to that embarrassing debacle.

Looking out at the Wells Fargo Center, you might see a familiar phrase on the Flyers' orange giveaway t-shirts for Game 6 against the Capitals. Way back in Game 3, you may remember fans in Philadelphia tossed their giveaway light-up bracelets on the ice during the 6-1 drubbing the Flyers received.

Two home games after the fact, the Flyers’ promotional team seems to be embracing the incident with a bit of fun.

That right there is in-arena announcer Lou Nolan holding the giveaway shirt all Flyers fans will get for Game 6 paying tribute to his iconic plea to fans during Game 3.

“OK ladies and gentlemen, hold those wrist bands in your hands,” he said. “Show some class. This is Philly. This is not someplace else in the NHL. Hold them, put them on your wrist where they’re supposed to be. Do not throw them on the ice. Have some class.”

You’ve got to hand it to them, it’s a brilliant bit of self-deprecation and trolling. Well done, Philadelphia.
