Michal Neuvirth could only do so much for the Flyers. Despite saving 28 shots in Game 6, Philadelphia was not able to muster up enough offense to save their playoff lives in a 1-0 loss.
Capitals vs. Flyers 2016 final score: One goal was all Washington needed to advance
The Flyers offense came alive too little too late as the Capitals take the series in six games.

The first period picked up where Game 5 left off, with Neuvirth stealing the show while the Flyers gave him very little offensive support. Neuvirth stopped all 12 shots in the opening 20 minutes while the offense had just five shots in return. The Flyers committed all three of the first period penalties, including two that gave the Capitals just over a minute with a 5-on-3 advantage. Neuvirth and the penalty killing said no and the Flyers escaped from the first period tied with no score.
For the first time in over 100 minutes, the Capitals broke through on Neuvirth for the game's first score in the second period. The shot needed to be perfect for Washington and it was, as Nicklas Backstrom put home a laser glove side on Neuvirth for the 1-0 Capitals lead.
Moments prior to the goal, the Flyers weren’t able to score on a gift of a 5-on-3 power play.
Backstrom's goal prompted a response from the Flyers, but the team was not able to crack Braden Holtby once during the game as the netminder made 25 saves in the victory.
