Dolphins vs. Patriots: Betting odds, pick, preview & trends

A pair of AFC East foes coming off bad losses clash in Foxboro, where the Patriots never lose in October. See the odds, trends and matchup details.

New England hasn’t lost at home in October in nearly a decade and the Patriots are favored to continue that streak against division-rival Miami in Week 8.

The Patriots have won 15 straight October home games SU, going 10-4-1 ATS in the process.

In six meetings since 2010, the New England Patriots are 6-0 SU and 4-1-1 ATS against the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots host the Dolphins this Sunday in Foxboro, and are a 7-point favorite as they attempt to stretch that winning streak to seven games.

The last few weeks have been quite the roller coaster for the New England Patriots. Fresh off of a 13-6 loss to Cincinnati in which Tom Brady was held without a touchdown pass, the Patriots beat the New Orleans Saints on a wild comeback in the closing moments of the game two weeks ago.

Last Sunday, the Patriots fell to the New York Jets in overtime, victims of a new rule against pushing a teammate when trying to block a field goal. With Rob Gronkowski finally back in the fold, the Patriots hope to get things going on offense moving forward.

It has been a tale of two seasons for the Miami Dolphins so far. After getting off to a 3-0 SU and ATS start including wins over Indianapolis and Atlanta, the Dolphins were looking like a potential threat to the Patriots atop the AFC East. But over their last three games, the Dolphins are 0-3 SU and ATS.

Four of Miami’s last five games have been decided by four points or fewer.

Last season, both games between these two AFC East rivals went UNDER the total, with New England winning 28-0 at home and 23-16 in Miami. The total has gone UNDER in 13 of Miami’s last 19 road games and in four of New England’s last six home games.

Sunday’s total was set at 46 midweek over at 5Dimes.eu.

From the way both of these teams have played on defense this season, this feels like it should be another close game for both teams. While New England may end up coming out on top SU at home, we like getting a touchdown on the Dolphins in this spot.
