The Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face off on Monday Night Football in Week 10. It's obviously not the kind of important matchup that you expect to see in prime time, but dysfunction is also plenty entertaining. Miami (4-4) is doing better at this point, and just earned a huge win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9. Tampa Bay (0-8) is well on its way to an 0-16 season and the firing of its head coach, Greg Schiano.

The Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face off on Monday Night Football in Week 10. Both teams have been incredibly inconsistent this season, as evidenced by the trends.
Neither team has been consistent against the spread this season. The Buccaneers are 2-6 against it this season, and Miami is split down the middle at 4-4 against the spread.
Miami is 1-3 against the Buccaneers since 1997, and 0-4 against the spread when playing Tampa Bay in that span. In addition, the Dolphins are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall, and 1-6 against the spread in their last seven against the Buccaneers. Further mucking up the picture is the fact that the Buccaneers are 5-18-1 against the spread as home underdogs since 2006, and are 1-5 against the spread over their last six games on Monday Night Football.
So what we’ve categorically proven is pretty simple: these teams are not very good and are not all that consistent, at least in a positive manner, against the spread. Both teams are struggling statistically on the field as well, with Tampa Bay sporting the No. 31 passing attack in the league at just 196.8 passing yards per game, and Miami being remarkably consistent with their rankings across the board on both sides of the ball ... in a bad way. The Dolphins have the No. 21 pass offense, No. 22 rush offense, No. 22 pass defense and No. 21 rush offense.
Rookie quarterback Mike Glennon is in charge of the Tampa Bay offense. It's not all bad news, as he's shown some definite signs that could give the team and fans hope for the future. But he's without Mike Williams in the passing game, and Doug Martin hasn't been as good as advertised, plus he's been injured off and on throughout the season.
Miami showed flashes of brilliance early on in the season, but are in the process of a big collapse and a whole bunch of locker room controversy. They went 3-0 to start the season, and then dropped four consecutive games before their upset win over the Bengals in Week 9. Maintaining consistency going forward is an absolute must, or they’re certain to miss the playoffs.
Either way, the Dolphins opened up as 4.5-point favorites on the road this week. That line has fluctuated significantly throughout the week, however. Some sites narrowed to have the Dolphins favored by just a single point, while others dropped to having them as 3-point favorites, according to OddsShark.
The over/under for the matchup opened at 41 points and hovered around that throughout the week. That total has gone over in five of Miami’s last seven games, but under in seven of Miami’s last 10 games on the road.
