The United States have a dynasty on their hands. That might not even be a strong enough word.

Sunday saw the United States Sled Hockey team capture their fifth straight Paralympic gold medal in Milan. It came after a 6-2 defeat of the Canadian team which means that United States hockey full swept their northern neighbors in the gold medal matches between both the Olympics and Paralympics. What a time!

Just hours after the latest gold medal added to the collection, two of the Sled Hockey team heroes in Malik Jones and Josh Pauls were kind enough to join SB Nation for a discussion on the euphoria.

It is an interesting thing to be living a moment that you know you are going to want to commemorate for the rest of your life. I asked Josh how someone in that position balances such a juxtaposition and he noted that it is sort of like committing it all to a mental book that you place on the shelf. I loved that analogy.

Malik echoed that this is a sequence of memories that he will want to keep close to him always. He shared how everyone on the team is so close that they don’t even have to share the news with their friends… because they are each other’s friends. Josh noted that he often tells people how he doesn’t dance at weddings but that he does so at his teammates’ because they are that close.

Congratulations to the United States. Five in a row. Unreal.
