Beef Breakdown: Chris Paul and DeMarcus Cousins are surprisingly similar — both had a reputation for being competitive to a possible fault coming out of college, both struggled on teams that didn’t win as much as they should have, and both have been part of unexpected trades. Does that mean they get along and recognize their common qualities? LOL. Nah.
Best Known For: The flop. Oh my god, Chris Paul’s full body, face wincing, spin around flop that led to the NBA warning him. It also led to more beef, so, win for us.
(8) Paul Pierce vs. LeBron James
Beef Breakdown: The battle between these elite scorers spans multiple teams, family members, and even a preseason spitting incident. And since retirement, Pierce has carried it over into the broadcast space where he’s given the opportunity to spout his opinions on King James, who in the eyes of Pierce, is not worthy of the crown (GASP!).
Best Known For: The playoff battles between these dudes were never simple and straightforward, and since they missed each other just as often as they met, the showdowns were always a little extra special.
Matchup Prediction: Could the star power of Pierce-James be enough to upset the 1-seed? This is the second region where Chris Paul is part of the top-seeded beef, and in both scenarios his road isn’t safe. That said, if based on beef alone, CP3 vs. Cousins is a tightly wrapped classic that is an audience favorite.
