Last week’s Serie A matches made the race for the European positions much more interesting. The top five have a fairly easy week in Round 15, but the race to the bottom could become more of a freefall.

Lazio get by spirited Parma side

Paolo BrunoTwo minutes before the break, Klose was withdrawn with a minor injury. Biava also went off at half-time as a precautionary method.
Candreva could have sealed the game on 49 minutes, but Mirante saved the winger’s powerful strike to keep Parma afloat. Amauri, who had been anonymous for most of the game was replaced by Belfodil.

Claudio VillaIt was not an electrifying match. With Inter not offering much in the way of an attacking threat and the visitors seemingly playing for the draw (and apparently intent on ruining any opportunities they may have had on the counterattack with incredibly lax passing), it didn’t exactly make for compelling viewing, even on the rare occasions that the hosts generated a half-chance.

Giuseppe BelliniInler controlled the ball outside the box, brought the ball onto his right foot and fired a screamer that swerved through the air and nestled into the roof of the net.
Six minutes later, the home side doubled their advantage. Half-hearted defending allowed Insigne’s deflected ball to find Hamsik in the box. The Slovakian brought it down and bamboozled two defenders with quick feet and a scuffed shot somehow crept into the far corner.

Tullio M. PugliaPerhaps we can just watch the highlights of that match rather than tune in on Sunday?
Both sides, on the right day, have enough firepower to score four. But I wouldn’t count on the stars coming together to make both those days Sunday.

Valerio PennicinoPescara seeking a life preserver for Naples trip

Enrico LocciWhat on earth is Cristiano Bergodi going to do against Napoli? Pescara’s new coach finds himself in an awful position for his second match. After losing 1-0 to AS Roma last week, the Dolphins now head to Naples, an intimidating atmosphere at the best of times, but certain to be even more so this week, after Napoli have regained second place.
Plus, Pescara are going to be forced to watch Lorenzo Insigne frolic about the pitch. The forward scored 18 goals for the Dolphins in Serie B last season, but the loss of him, Ciro Immobile and Marco Verratti have left the club floundering. Pescara still have good, young talent -- Juan Quintero, Vladimir Weiss and Ante Vukusic come to mind -- but no one’s figured out how to make them come together effectively yet.

Marco LuzzaniOn first glance, the most interesting thing about the Derby della Mole is the name. It could be like one of those whack-a-mole arcade games, with the referee roaming around with a wooden mallet. Now that would be fun to watch. But will this match?
All this, however, points to a fairly boring match. Watching Toro is never too thrilling, but watching them try to take points off their rivals is likely to be downright dull. Let’s all cross our fingers for a bit of scandal to liven up this derby.

Maurizio LaganaFans in Sicily were treated to a game of two halves. They also got to see the good, bad and ugly of both sets of players.
First, El Shaarawy stretched furthest to get in front of the Catania defenders and stab Robinho’s pinpoint cross underneath the bar. There was a hint of an offside for the 20-year-old, but the linesman’s flag stayed down. Moments later, Boateng picked up El Shaarawy’s pass just outside the area and curled a beautiful shot into the bottom right hand corner, leaving Andujar rooted to the spot.
