Chievo Verona Vs Sampdoria, Preview: New Coach Looks To Get Chievo’s Donkeys Flying Again

It's all change at the Stadio Bentegodi for crisis-club Chievo Verona. After last week's 4-1 trouncing at Palermo - the club's fifth loss on the bounce, Dominico Di Carlo was given his pink slip.

In Di Carlo's place is former player Eugenio Corini, who is making his Serie A touchline bow. The former midfielder enjoyed five years in Verona and has promised to bring his "knowledge," "enthusiasm," and "motivation" to the struggling team.

Corini has his work cut out for him, picking his players up from their bad run. They do say that the only way is up, however Sampdoria will provide a stern test for the Flying Donkeys. Chievo Captain Sergio Pellissier is still recovering from having kidney stones removed and looks unlikely to play a part.

Despite starting with a one point deduction, Ciro Ferrara's men have acclimatised well since returning to Serie A. Although Samp's form has stuttered as of late, the club still find themselves in the dizzying heights of 5th place.

Napoli may have handed the Blucerchiati their first loss last week, but the visitors will be buoyed by Maxi Lopez's return from suspension. The Argentine will fancy his chances of adding to his tally of three goals in four matches. Taking Maxi's place in the sin bin is Daniele Gastaldello.
