It's been all Blackburn Rovers for the first twenty minutes at Ewood Park, and the home side's persistence paid off with a goal in the 22nd minute. El-Hadji Diouf sent the ball in to a crowd of players in front of the Chelsea net. Benjani rose to meet the cross, beating John Terry before heading the ball downward past Petr Cech.
Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Chelsea: The Blues Concede A Rare Goal At The Head Of Benjani
That’s the Zimbabwe international’s first goal since signing for Blackburn in August, and his first Premier League goal in nearly two years.
Since the goal, Chelsea have came to life slightly, but Blackburn continue to threaten again and again. The Blues’ defense is quite scattered, with the visitors unable to adequately clear the area. Even if they manage to get out of their own half, the normally flawless Chelsea can’t string more than three passes together, to the delight of Blackburn.
Blackburn’s potential new owners, Venky’s, are in the stands, and no doubt enjoying this display.
