Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Chelsea: Nicolas Anelka Equalizes At Ewood Park

Nicolas Anelka has equalized for Chelsea, putting the league leaders back on comfortable footing at Ewood Park.

The Blues chose to score this one Blackburn-style, with Petr Cech hoofing the ball up the pitch to Florent Malouda. Malouda, three-quarters of the way up the field, controlled the ball beautifully before crossing to Didier Drogba. Drogba beat two defenders to nod it back to the center, where Anelka was waiting to send the ball past Paul Robinson.

Blackburn really had no opportunity to defend this goal, with Chelsea executing each move before the Rovers even realized where the ball had been. Although the home side are still pressing forward, the Blues are finally looking tighter in the back, and giving Blackburn little chance to maneuver.

We head into halftime at Blackburn with the score line even at 1-1. Sam Allardyce will have to give his players quite a rollicking in the dressing room if he wants to keep Chelsea from running riot in the second.
