Everton 1-0 Stoke City: Yakubu Finds Break Through After 67 Minutes At Goodison Park

In a match that continued to ping back and forth between the two sides and was desperate for a goal, Nigerian striker Yakubu finally put Everton ahead at home with a close range effort. It was Steven Pienaar who provided the quality down Everton's right flank to find Tim Cahill who was only able to hit the post with his brilliant effort.

While Stoke City's Asmir Begovic was beaten in goal but saved by his post, the ball rebounded to Yakubu who finished emphatically when his shot hit the roof of the net.

Everton are coming off of a hard fought draw last weekend away to Spurs and would love nothing more than three points at home with key player Mikel Arteta back in the starting eleven. If the score holds, Everton will have gained 7 points in their last three league matches marking a highly improved side from the one that started the season so dismally.
