Arsenal Need Almost Ninety Minutes To Beat Robert Green, West Ham United 1-0
It took Arsenal almost the full ninety minutes to find a goal that enabled them to beat West Ham United 1-0. Arsenal didn't demonstrate their best play on Saturday, with plenty of heavy touches and incomplete passes. The Gunners still managed to create plenty of chances, particularly in the second half, but West Ham goalkeeper Rob Green was in brilliant form, stopping everything that came his way-until Alex Song found an opening in the 88th minute:
The Frenchman left Julien Faubert in the dust, cutting inside into the penalty area and lofting a right-footed cross into the soft underbelly of the West Ham defense between Green and his teammates. Bendtner missed contact with his foot, but Alex Song, who had gone forward a lot on the day (to the mild irritation of Wenger, even), made a wonderful diving effort and crashed the ball across the line with his peroxide head.
