Dynamo Theory Reviews Houston’s Unprotected LIst
The Dynamo have one of the shortest unprotected players lists as a result of having just 23 players under contract, and having three more automatically off-limits due to Generation adidas or Homegrown Player status.
Most of the players on their unprotected list can be easily attributable to their contracts, as six of them made more $100,000 last year and one more is in the final year of his deal.
That information leads Dyanamo Theory's Zach Woosley to conclude that the most likely player to be taken from the Dynamo is Joseph Ngwenya by the Portland Timbers.
Ngwenya is an interesting player in this draft. He played for the Dynamo when John Spencer was on Kinnear’s staff, his salary isn’t high (72k) and he can play up front or in an attacking mid role. If any Dynamo player is selected, this might be the most likely candidate.
The other possibility seems to be the Vancouver Whitecaps possibly targeting goalkeeper Pat Onstad, who has deep Canadian roots, owns a host of MLS all-time records and would serve as a sort of player-coach.
