Shortly after Frederic Piquionne opened the scoring at St. Andrew's, West Ham and Birmingham City have traded goals, with the Blues left searching for an equalizer after 71 minutes. With Valon Behrami and Cameron Jerome getting on the scoresheet, West Ham now holds a 1-2 lead in Birmingham.
Birmingham City 1-2 West Ham United: Valon Behrami, Cameron Jerome Goals Keep Hammers Lead At One
For a moment, the Hammers were up two. A nice exhibition of passing created an opportunity for Behrami at the edge of the area. The Swiss international finish gave him his first goal of the season and his team an 0-2 lead.
It took Brum eight minutes, but they responded in almost predictable fashion. A ball played into the box by Sebastian Larsson was knocked down by Nikola Zigic, who placed the ball between Robert Green and his last defender. Cameron Jerome beat the West Ham keeper to the ball for a relatively easy right-footed finish, quickly pulling back Behrami's goal.
Now in the 71st minute, West Ham remains up on Birmingham City, 1-2.
