Conor Casey has brought the aggregate score back to level, scoring off a Omar Cummings assist in the 84th minute.
Major League Soccer Playoffs, Leg 2: Conor Casey Equalizes For Rapids
That is the first goal from either Casey or Cummings in this series, but the two have combined for 26 goals this season.
On the goal, Cummings brought the ball up the right wing and then centered it to Casey, who was able to score despite being tightly marked.
The Crew had scored the game’s two previous goals and had overcome a 1-0 aggregate deficit.
Claudio Lopez and Mac Kandji have come on as late Rapids substitutes in the match, as the Rapids have switched to a decidedly more offensive collection of players. Lopez had come on from fullback Kosuke Kimura and Kandji replaced midfielder Brian Mullan.
Kevin Burns has replaced Emmanuel Ekpo for the Crew. Steven Lenhart has replaced Robbie Rogers, as well.
If the score remains tied, the two teams will play two 15-minute overtime periods. If no winner has been determined at that point, the game would go to a penalty shootout.
The winner of this aggregate series will host the San Jose Earthquakes in the Eastern Conference finals.
