In his 48th appearance for Stoke City, midfielder Dean Whitehead has scored his first Potters goal, giving his side a 3-2 lead in the 85th minute of their match with Birmingham City. Having given up a 2-0 lead in the second half, Stoke could see three points salvaged by an unlikely source.
Stoke City 3-2 Birmingham City: Dean Whitehead Reclaims Potters Lead
Whitehead had a lot of help in the tally, though - mostly from Blues. A ball rolling in from Stoke's left went through defender Scott Dann, finding Whitehead behind the defense, six yards up. A pile up in front of goal ensued, but only after Whitehead was able to get a touch to the ball, putting the go-ahead goal past Ben Foster.
Stoke now looks set for their fourth win of the year, one which will pull them up from their 17th place standing, should they hold-on. Now in second half stoppage time, Stoke’s control of the match hints the Potters are set to snap their four match losing streak.
