Yaya Toure has opened the scoring for Manchester City at Upton Park as the Citizens chase top spot in the Premier League. For West Ham, Scott Parker's speculative 30 yard dipping volley in the opening moments of the match was the closest the hosts came to testing Joe Hart until Junior Stanislas forced Hart into a save by cutting in from the left flank and shooting quickly past Jerome Boateng.
West Ham Vs. Manchester City: Yaya Toure Blasts City Into First Half Lead
Hart saved easily falling to his right while his City teammates have enjoyed more meaningful possession than the Hammers. The visitors looked the more likely of the two to open up the scoring in the first 30 minutes, yet Robert Green's goal wasn't altogether assaulted.
Yaya Toure made a fine run into space in the 27th minute and was able to get a shot on goal. Green saved easily while Jo and the diminutive David Silva continue to poke and prod their way through the West Ham defense in hopes to properly serve Mario Balotelli.
Toure's opener originated from the fact the he's currently sporting a snood, but more so from a nice, simple ball into the box from Gareth Barry. Jonathan Spector switched off for just a moment and Toure was able to blast home the game's first goal from close range.
And while the freeze that’s plagued Britain in recent weeks seems to have loosened its grip somewhat, City’s Mario Balotelli has elected to sport tights and gloves while he continues to pursue the title for the league’s most accessorized footballer.
