Rafael da Silva is down after a clash of heads in the Manchester United box. The right-back met substitute stiker Marlon Harewood (who seem to emerge no worse for the wear) very hard, and after a minute or two of the Brazilian striker lying motionless on the ground, a stretcher has emerged and so has a substitute - compatriot Anderson has come on for the stricken defender. Darren Fletcher will presumably slot in at right back while Anderson goes into midfield. That's all three of United's substitutions used up, with ten minutes left in the game and the scores still level. Sir Alex Ferguson is paying very close attention to just how much time the injury is taking
Blackpool FC Vs. Manchester United: Rafael Da Silva Stretchered Off
Rafael, as mentioned a little earlier, had been having a very good game save for one contentious incident early in the second half after he flattened Luke Varney in the United area. Nothing was called, and we should expect some significant chat after the match about that rather bizarre penalty decision. Nonetheless, I’m sure everyone will wish Rafael a speedy recovery - he certainly doesn’t look in a very good way right now. Twin bother Fabio, an unused substitute, has followed the stretcher off the pitch to the dressing room.
